Hello. I'm a freelance creative.
Ok, ok - I can already sense the questions; so I’ll try and answer them:
What exactly is your job title - what do you do?
A little bit of everything. The days of specific roles and rigid job titles are over. I am an art director, a copywriter, a graphic designer, a web designer and a creative director.
So a jack of all trades?
No. Mainly my job is to come up with ideas. Big exciting ideas. Ideas that sell.
What experience do you have?
I have over ten years industry experience, the last four working freelance. During those ten years I have gained experience in the big global advertising agencies (McCann Erikson, TBWA, JWT), and also worked with many smaller agencies (Love, And Partners, Creative Spark, Four23). The clients page has a full list, and details some of the key accounts I have worked on.
Do you only work for agencies?
No, I work direct too. My clients range from architects, to language translation companies, to a firm selling double glazing. Working direct I have done everything from plan and execute entire marketing campaigns, to simply designing a logo.
So are you any good?
I have won 35 National and International awards including a One Show Pencil, a couple of Big Chip Awards and my work has been published in the Epica Annual, so awards juries at least seem to think I’m not too bad. These awards have been won across all the different creative disciplines. More importantly I have direct clients and agencies whom I have worked for again and again.
What media do you mainly work in?
Once I have had an idea, it has then been my job to help produce it, across all types of media; print, digital, broadcast, even those strange media categories which everyone seems to re-name every couple of months. (That means you - 'Guerilla' marketing).
What software do you use?
I work in most of the packages from Adobe Creative Suite, both print and digital, I can design and build websites (XHTML / CSS) - and will even still boot Quark up if you insist.
What qualifications have you got?
I have an Hons degree in Illustration with Animation from MMU.
When can you start?
I am creative director at Mi a few days a week - an animation and effects studio. The rest of the time I freelance, so please get in touch, and hopefully I'll be able to help out.
So there you go - I hope that answers the important questions. If your agency could occasionally do with an extra pair of versatile hands, or if your marketing needs a bit of a freshen up, get in touch - the contact link will do the trick. Or just click here.
Thank you.
